Gophers F Davonte Fitzgerald To Miss Season With Torn ACL

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Coach Richard Pitino announced Friday that redshirt junior Davonte Fitzgerald will miss the upcoming season after suffering a knee injury in practice.

Fitzgerald tore his ACL in a non-contact situation during practice Thursday. He also tore his medial and lateral meniscus, the university said.

"We are disappointed in the recent injury news as it pertains to Devonte," Pitino said. "He had worked extremely hard to get himself ready for the season. We are confident he will be back and ready to go next season."

Fitzgerald transferred to the U in 2015 after two years at Texas A&M.
