Police: Attempted Abduction In Cannon Falls Did Not Happen

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Cannon Falls police said Wednesday that an attempted abduction reported Sunday did not occur.

The incident was reported as an assault on Sunday. During a follow-up interview, investigators learned it was an attempted abduction and asked for the public’s help.

It was originally reported that a white male in his 20’s attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl from Lower Hannah’s Bend Park.

Police said the victim acknowledged in a subsequent interview the incident did not occur and there was no abduction attempt.

Police also said the investigation is closed.

    I’m glad it was a false report, but think the girl’s family should reimburse the local law enforcement for the time and manpower they spent investigating this claim.
