Zombie Pub Crawl Prompts Street Closures In Downtown Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- On top of avoiding shambling, groaning "zombies", motorists will also have to navigate around closed streets in downtown Minneapolis this weekend.

The closures are being prompted by the Zombie Pub Crawl block party, which will be held Saturday starting at 4 p.m. until Midnight in the Warehouse District.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, the following streets will be closed:

• First Avenue North from Sixth Street North to Third Street North (full closure, no vehicles allowed).
• First Avenue North from Sixth Street North to Seventh Street North (local access will be maintained).
• Sixth Street North from Hennepin Avenue to Second Avenue North (local access will be maintained).
• Fifth Street North from Hennepin Avenue to Second Avenue North.
• Fourth Street North from Hennepin Avenue to Second Avenue North.

The METRO Green and Blue line trains will continue to operate on Fifth Street North during the event.

City officials say all sidewalks along the aforementioned streets will be closed from building face to building face in the event area.

The roads will reopen at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Anyone who lives or works in the closed off area will be allowed in with proper identification, otherwise access will be limited to people who pay the entry fee.
