Woman Charged In Another Heroin Death, Now Linked To 5
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Maplewood woman is now linked to yet another heroin-related death in Minnesota, raising the total number of overdoses she's at least suspected in to five.
The most recent accusation against Beverly Nicole Burrell was filed last week in Hennepin County, where the 30-year-old is already facing charges in three heroin-related deaths.
Like in the previous cases, Burrell is charged with third-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
In the case filed last week, Burrell is accused in the April death of a man living at a sober house in Columbia Heights. According to a criminal complaint, the victim bought heroin from Burrell the night before he was found unconscious next to a syringe.
The Midwest Coroner's Office found that the victim died from heroin laced with fentanyl, a highly potent drug that can be lethal in small doses.
The deadly combination is the same one that killed 29-year-old Nick Petrick, of New Prague, in whose murder Burrell was arrested for in May.
She is also facing murder charges in the death of 20-year-old Luke Ronnei, of Chanhassen, and 21-year-old Max Tillett, of Eden Prairie.
Moreover, Burrell is suspected in the overdose death of former Marine Dustin Peltier in Sherburne County.
According to the criminal complaint, Peltier, 31, overdosed after meeting to buy drugs near the south Minneapolis Perkins where Burrell was known to deal.
The former Marine was later found dead in St. Cloud. Investigators say he died of fentanyl ingestion.
No charges have been filed in this case.
