NOAA: November Snow Cover Hits All-Time Low

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As Minnesota's mild November looks to come to an end this weekend, federal weather officials say that snow cover in the lower 48 is at an all-time low for this time of year.

As of mid-November 2016, the only areas in the mainland U.S. with any accumulation are in the high peaks of the Rockies, the Cascades and the Sierras, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in a statement on Tuesday.

The agency released maps showing both the average snow cover for North America (from 1981 to 2010) and what the situation on the ground was as of Monday. The difference in the maps is dramatic.

As for Minnesota, there's a chance the snow situation could change this weekend.
