Sheriff: Driver Killed After Striking Deer In Polk County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal vehicle accident involving a deer Sunday evening.
According to the sheriff's office, the rollover crash occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Polk County Road 23, north of 150th Street Northwest in Brandt Township.
An initial investigation determined that the driver, identified as Jason Kent Johnston of East Grand Forks, was heading north on the county road when he struck a deer, which caused the car to travel into the west ditch and roll over.
Johnson was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
