Vikings Waive RB Ronnie Hillman, Promote DE Weatherly

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) – The Minnesota Vikings announced two roster moves Monday, allowing plenty of room for fans to speculate who might be returning from injury.

The Vikings waived running back Ronnie Hillman and promoted defensive end Stephen Weatherly from the practice squad to the active roster. Hillman had 18 carries for 50 yards in five games with the Vikings, an average of just 2.8 yards per carry. Despite winning a Super Bowl with the Broncos, he couldn't beat out Matt Asiata or Jerick McKinnon for more playing time.

The move opens up a spot for another running back to come to the active roster. Perhaps, is Adrian Peterson getting closer to a return? He's been out since Week 2 after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

He was put on injured reserve, meaning he had to be out at least eight weeks. It's now Week 11.
