Benton County Officials Investigate After Man's Body Found In Ditch

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Benton County officials say they are investigating after a 22-year-old man's body was found in a ditch after he was reported missing earlier this week.

According to the county sheriff's office, St. Cloud police officers were dispatched Tuesday to the report of a missing St. Cloud man. The missing man's acquaintance expressed concern because the man hadn't been seen since late the prior evening when he was out with friends.

Authorities say the missing man was last seen alone and on foot at around 2:10 a.m. in the parking lot of a business on 500 66th St. NW in Sauk Rapids.

On Wednesday morning, the missing man's body was found in a ditch near the intersection of County Road 33 and Highway 10 in Benton County.

The investigation into the man's death is ongoing, but authorities say there appears to be no danger to the public related to the incident.
