Medina Target Store All-Clear After Report Of Suspicious Device

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a Target store in the northwest Twin Cities metro was evacuated Sunday night after a report of a suspicious device.

The Medina Police Department responded to the report early Sunday evening at Target 300 Clydesdale Drive. When officers arrived, they located a device at the Target store in Medina and requested assistance from the Minneapolis Bomb Squad.

The Minneapolis Bomb Squat was set to detonate the suspicious device, but they determined the device wasn't explosive so a controlled detonation didn't happen.

Medina police say the device was determined to be a small, 3x5 inch black box with flashing red lights on it. Authorities say it was found in Target's employee room.

Medina police say bomb-sniffing dogs were sent into the store to do a sweep as a final precaution, and the store was expected to reopen shortly after 9 p.m.
