Police: 1 Dead, 4 Hurt In 4-Vehicle Crash In South Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person was killed and four others hurt in a four-vehicle crash in south Minneapolis on Sunday, according to police.

Minneapolis police responded to the crash at about 9:36 a.m. at the intersection of Blaisdell Avenue South and 26th Street West. Two vehicles heading southbound on Blaisdell Avenue didn’t stop for a red light, and hit two vehicles that were headed westbound on 26th Street.

When officers and paramedics arrived, and adult male, later identified as 32-year-old Jason Alexander Ritenour, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles heading westbound on 26th Street was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other victims were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say three occupants of one of the vehicles on Blaisdell Avenue stayed at the scene, while three occupants from the other vehicle fled the scene. Officers located one of those three who fled, talked with police and was released.
