Bradford Rests, Keenum Ready To Face Lions

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) – The Minnesota Vikings will play a hungry Detroit Lions team after a controversial loss last week.

The question of which Viking will play quarterback doesn’t seem like it’s much of a quandary, given Case Keenum’s last performance.

Sam Bradford is still sitting and wondering if he can play. Keenun knows he can play. He proved it Sunday, and he is a classic battle tested back-up.

“I’ve been in a lot of situations so you can’t really put a price on experience,” Keenum said. “I’ve used every experience that I’ve ever had as a learning tool, good and bad.”

So is there a difference between the two?  Maybe in mechanics, but in the politically correct world of receivers, they’re fine either way.

“I think they’re both extremely competitive. They want to win and want to do whatever it takes to win,” Adam Thielen said. “They’re both guys that want to throw the ball and they want to let us go make plays.”

Maybe it’s not as much about who plays quarterback as we think. Maybe the real hero in this offense is the offensive coordinator. Pat Shumur didn’t take over until Norv Turner left halfway through last year, and maybe now he’s got his imprint with this unit.

Shurmur seems to have found a system he likes, and he seems to have found a way to get people the ball.

“This is his offense. Obviously we do a lot of things that we’ve done here in the past but since he’s gotten here and taken over and been here all offseason, he finds out what we do well. We’re going to do that as many ways as possible,” tight end Kyle Rudolph said.

And that’s helped make winning possible.
