Man In Serious Condition After Apartment Fire In North Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - One person was listed in serious condition Saturday after an apartment fire in north Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews responded shortly after 1 p.m. to a fire in a fifth-floor unit at building on the 1700 block of Plymouth Avenue North.

Firefighters found a man inside the burning unit. Paramedics brought the man to a local hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation and possible burns. He was listed in serious condition.

Fire crews quickly knocked down the flames, which did not spread outside the apartment unit. However, the apartment where the fire started was deemed uninhabitable.

Public Housing Management arrived to assist residents whose units might have sustained smoke or water damage, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
