Derek Boogaard was my four year old son’s favorite player. Today mys son is in tears, he’s eight years old. We bought him an NHL T-shirt for Christmas and he wanted Boogie’s number and Name on a NY Rangers shirt. HE put it on today as he was going to his fellow hockey buddies birthday party. This man was a gentle man, my son got to meet him when we lived in New Prague, MN, standing in line in the heat. This man was a gentle giant, sweet, kind and patient. We took quite a few pic’s of Carson and Boogie. You will be missed, my son is so, so sad today. He said, why are a great players leaving us. . . Harmen and Derek. I have to frame the picture of him and boogie when he go to meet him in New Prague. I have never seen my son cry over anyone before. Boogie, you are one in a million. Please retire his number, he deserves it. What a wonderful human being we have lost.
