Everyone is OK after a house fire in Eden Prairie early Saturday morning. Officials say the fire call came in around midnight on the 10000 block of Laurel Drive.

A Brooklyn Center man has pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder in connection to a fatal shooting at a Fourth of July party last year in north Minneapolis. The Hennepin County Attorney’s office says 25-year-old Joseph Lee Smith is accused of shooting 28-year-old Cabrie Young in the chest after a fight broke out at a party on the 3400 block of Dupont Avenue North.
The Fourth of July weekend means more people on Minnesota’s lakes, so the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is urging water safety.

Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman announced Monday that fireworks for the 4th of July will take place at the State Capitol Mall Friday evening. Fireworks for the holiday were scheduled as a part of the “Taste Of Minnesota” festival. The festival was scheduled at Harriet Island, but was moved to Waconia, Minn. due to flooding.
