Wright County deputies are attempting to make contact with a man who is allegedly holed up in a house in Albertville, Minn. According to Wright County Officials, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday the Wright County Communications received a report of a suicidal male who was thought to be making his way toward an Albertville address.

Sheriff: Albertville Man Shoots, Kills Black Bear In Yard

A man shot and killed a black bear in Albertville Tuesday night after it was spotted in his yard while his daughter was outside playing, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities received a call at about 7:45 p.m. that a black bear had been seen on the 10000 block of 64th Street NE in Albertville. The caller, Lawrence Engstrom, told authorities the bear walked up to their sliding glass door in the back yard.

Family, friends and teammates remembered the life of a college athlete killed in a tragic accident. Phillip LaVallee was a cross country and track star at Monticello High School and was heading into his sophomore year at South Dakota State. The 19-year-old was hit and killed last month while out on a training run, three miles from his parents’ home in Otsego.

The right lane of westbound I-94 one mile west of Wright County Road closed Tuesday evening due to a buckled concrete panel. Crews will repair the segment of pavement, located west of Albertville, on Tuesday night and all westbound lanes will reopen by 10 a.m. Wednesday.
