Attempted First-Degree Murder
Hennepin County authorities have charged a man who they say shot a truck driver in the head. Kelly Anderson of Albertville was charged Wednesday with attempted first-degree murder and ordered held on $1 million bond.
A Grand Rapids man has pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder after breaking into a stranger’s house in St. Cloud and beating and choking him. Corey Becker also pleaded guilty Monday to one count of kidnapping in Stearns County.
The man accused of killing a Mendota Heights police officer pleaded not guilty Monday morning, and his defense is seeking a change of venue because of the level of media coverage surrounding his case. The plea was entered by defense attorneys for Brian Fitch Sr. during a hearing in Dakota County Court.
The defense team for the man accused of killing a Mendota Heights police officer said he intends to plead not guilty. Brian Fitch appeared at an arraignment Thursday morning in Dakota County. The 39-year-old Fitch is accused of fatally shooting Officer Scott Patrick during a traffic stop July 30 in West St. Paul.
Anoka County prosecutors say one of the victims in a brutal assault over the weekend was able to call the police after he had been stabbed eight times. Anthony McCollum and Yani Singh are still in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center after police say they were stabbed inside of a car early Saturday morning.
A 37-year-old woman will be appearing in court Monday on charges she struck a man with her car earlier this month. Angela Jackson, of Minneapolis, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
A Beltrami County man was charged Wednesday with the attempted first-degree murder of a 17-year-old girl over an apparent dispute involving a lawn mower. According to the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office, 40-year-old Chad Eric Pickering is accused of shooting his teenage neighbor three times shortly after she confronted him about riding his lawn mower through her yard.
An 18-year-old St. Paul man is facing charges of attempted murder and battery as he’s accused of punching his pregnant girlfriend at a Wisconsin hotel with the intent of causing a miscarriage. Jessy Jordan Holtzkamp was charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child, aggravated battery of an unborn child and misdemeanor battery in connection with the July 10 incident.
A man convicted of attempted first-degree murder in a violent downtown Minneapolis parking ramp stabbing will spend 20 years in prison.
