A Minneapolis police SWAT team leader has been convicted of assaulting a man while off-duty at a bar.
A benefit was held Saturday to help a man who was allegedly hurt by a Minneapolis police officer. Brian Vander Lee had two brain surgeries after police say he was punched last month at a restaurant by Minneapolis SWAT Sgt. David Clifford, who was charged with first degree assault.
The Anoka County Attorney’s Office is now charging a near 20-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department with first-degree assault after the crime’s victim had to undergo two surgeries to mend the bleeding in his brain.
A fund has been set up to raise money for the family of a man allegedly punched by an off-duty Minneapolis SWAT officer.
