Wild Blog: Wild Clinch Playoff Berth, Defeat Bruins 4-3

The Minnesota Wild went into Tuesday night knowing they would only need one more point to clinch a playoff berth in the Western Conference. The task would not come easy as the Boston Bruins, the defending Eastern Conference champions, were in town. Fortunately for the Wild, their play-off berth was solidified before the start of the third period. The Phoenix Coyotes lost their game in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3.

Disputed Shootout Goal Leads Jackets Over Wild 2-1

Ryan Johansen scored a disputed goal in the fourth round of the shootout to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Johansen’s shot initially was ruled a rebound, but a video review showed that Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper did not touch the puck, making it a legal shootout goal.

McElhinney’s Shutout Leads CBJ Past Wild, 4-0

Cam Atkinson, Nick Foligno, Boone Jenner and R.J. Umberger scored and Curtis McElhinney posted his first shutout since 2011 in leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night. It was the Blue Jackets’ second win in a row, the first time they’ve won back-to-back games since Oct. 25. They did it in their first game without last year’s Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s top goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky, who will miss the next month or so with a strained groin.

Zucker’s Shoot Out Goal Lifts Wild Over Blue Jackets, 3-2

Jason Zucker scored the lone shootout goal and assisted on the tying goal to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets in a preseason game Monday night. Zucker’s shot trickled under the outstretched left leg pad of Sergei Bobrovsky, who made 26 saves in regulation and overtime. Minnesota goalie Josh Harding thwarted all three Columbus attempts in the shootout with the last one from Matt Calvert hitting the post. Harding stopped 20 shots before the shootout.
