Xcel: More Than 9,000 Customers Lost Power In NW Metro

More than 9,000 customers in suburbs northwest of Minneapolis lost power for a few hours Wednesday evening, according to Xcel Energy. The 9,100 customers affected were in Osseo, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Coon Rapids and Maple Grove. The power went out around 5:30 p.m. and came back around 9:45 p.m.

Coon Rapids Police Seek Suspects In High School Burglaries

The Coon Rapids Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify at least two suspects who are responsible for two recent burglaries at Coon Rapids High School. Authorities said Wednesday they’re offering up to $300 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the incidents, which took place May 11 and May 19.

Charges: Worker Stole From Bank To Fund Gambling Habit

A 20-year-old Apple Valley man who worked at a Coon Rapids bank is accused of stealing from that bank to fund a gambling habit, according to charges filed Monday in Anoka County Court. Tyler Frank Caracofe was charged with one count of theft in connection with the incident, which took place between June and July of last year.

The cell phone video of a wall of ice marching towards Izatys Resort on Lake Mille Lacs is amazing. The slow-motion avalanche pierced the wall of at least one home. When the weather gets crazy, does insurance cover it? Much like the winds of a tornado tossing objects into homes and causing damage, the winds from the ice tsunami destroyed at least two boat houses, and sent ice inside at least one resort condo along Lake Mille Lacs.
