There is a certain type of police officer who is more prone to injuries that others — K-9s. The University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine is trying to remedy that. They offered a new course for officers from all over the metro.

Animal Humane Society: Dog Adopted From St. Paul May Have Canine Flu

Adoptions are on hold at the St. Paul Animal Humane Society because of a possible case of dog flu. A family adopted an adult Shar Pei mix on June 14, which later showed flu-like symptoms. A blood test came back positive for H3N2, or canine influenza.

Dog Dies Of Apparent Blue-Green Algae Poisoning In Douglas Co.

One dog is ill and another has died after swimming in a Douglas County lake. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, DCSO Water Patrol received a report of one dog becoming ill and another dog becoming ill, and ultimately dying, after swimming in Red Rock Lake.

When Tim Dewey first learned about the dog influenza outbreak hitting the greater Chicago area, he began keeping a tighter leash on his rescue dog, Grover. But the more he read about it, the more assured he became. Up to that point there had been no confirmed cases of the H3N2 strain affecting dogs in Minnesota.
