Minnesota is home to some of the most unique sounds in the music industry. The sounds of Bob Dylan, Prince, The Jayhawks and Doomtree have inspired countless of inspiring artists to pick up instruments. Many of whom come to St. Paul, Minn. to the McNally Smith College of Music where classes focus on performance, recording and engineering.
Local rapper P.O.S. is doing well and feels like a “new dude” after a recent kidney transplant, according to Doomtree’s Lazerbeak. About a year and half ago, P.O.S. – or Stefon Alexander – went public with his need for a new kidney.
A local music star is suffering a big loss while on the road. According to Doomtree.net, the tour van of rapper and singer Dessa was burglarized Friday night, with thieves stealing crucial equipment for their shows. The singer/songwriter says her band lost computers, camera gear, merchandise and cash. It happened during a tour stop in Buffalo, N.Y. As police search for the stolen gear, Dessa started a fundraising page to replace those items. Fans have already contributed more than $20,000 as of Saturday evening.
Some of music’s greatest talents — such as Bob Dylan and Prince — hail from the land of 10,000 lakes.
Minneapolis hip-hop singer Dessa is about to hit the road for her first headlining tour.
