As someone who keeps a pretty close eye on the high school sports scene, this is one of my favorite times of the year. January is coming to an end, which means conference races around the state are heating up.
The high school winter sports season is officially underway as hockey, wrestling, basketball and other sports are all at least a week into action.
The fields are now set across seven classes for the state football playoffs in Minnesota. Last week’s section champions advanced to this week’s state football quarterfinals, which are being held across the state Thursday and Friday on turf fields at neutral sites.
