Gov. Scott Walker ordered flags to be flown at half-staff for an emergency medical technician who died while trying to save his mother from a northwestern Wisconsin fire. Sixty-two-year-old Dennis Swenson went into a Town of Bell home to try to save his 95-year-old mother, Dorothy Swenson, from a fire May 1, but both ended up dying.

Three people were hospitalized after an Allina Health ambulance – with a patient inside – collided head-on with an SUV early Saturday morning in Wright County. Lt. Sean Deringer of the Wright County Sheriff’s office says this was an unusual crash considering those involved. “It certainly brings it to a personal level when we know the people involved,” Lt. Deringer said.
