The Minnesota Vikings have taken another one of their priority free agents off the market before it opens, agreeing to terms on a five-year contract with defensive end Everson Griffen that features $20 million guaranteed and a maximum value of $42.5 million.

Patterson Propels Minnesota Vikings To Victory In Metrodome Finale

The Minnesota Vikings closed the history of Mall of America Field with a victory Sunday by beating the Detroit Lions 14-13. Cordarrelle Patterson scored two touchdowns, one rushing and the other receiving for the only two Vikings scores. The Lions scored 13 straight points in the second half to take a lead, but could not keep the Vikings from scoring the winning touchdown.

Minnesota Vikings Blown Out By The Cincinnati Bengals

The Minnesota Vikings were a minor inconvenience for the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton tossed four touchdowns to lead the Bengals to a 42-14 victory. Dalton threw just 11 incompletions and was sacked twice to build a 136.5 quarterback rating. Cordarrelle Patterson was the lone bright spot for the Vikings with a 35.8 yard kick return average, 54 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Vikings QB Christian Ponder Not Cleared To Return To Practice, Cassel To Start

The Minnesota Vikings will not have quarterback Christian Ponder for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens due to the concussion suffered in the win over the Chicago Bears. Matt Cassel will take over as the starter with Josh Freeman serving as his backup. The Vikings had five players listed as non-participants, four as limited participants and four as full participants at Thursday’s practice.
