Rain Causes Mudslides, Road Closures In Winona Co.

Thunderstorms dumped several inches of rain in and around the bluff town of Winona early Saturday morning. WCCO Weather Watcher Dan Amundson reported eight inches of rain in the area. Flash flooding washed away part of a road on Bob Dunn’s property, and the force took out a walking bridge. “You can actually see the mud build up. You can drive across there before. I used to have a decent road,” Dunn said. “That used to be a bridge, used to have a bridge going right across here.”

Gov. Dayton Requests Disaster Declaration

More Than 5 Inches Douse Metro, Flood Warning In Effect

Rain battered the metro Friday night and into Saturday morning, pouring more than five inches in some areas. Eden Prairie had more than five inches, Prior Lake reported 4.75 inches, as Bloomington saw four inches and Minneapolis had 3.6 inches in some areas.

Twin Cities Cleaning Up From Overnight Severe Weather

The National Weather Service says several communities in west-central Minnesota are experiencing flash flooding following severe thunderstorms. Meteorologist Chris Franks says streets in Morris, Glenwood and Starbuck are among those that flooded after big downpours.
