Former Minnesota Gophers quarterback Philip Nelson was arrested early Sunday morning in Mankato, Minn. for an alleged assault, according to authorities.
The Minnesota Vikings have taken Virginia Tech cornerback Antone Exum and Maine cornerback Kendall James in the sixth round of the NFL draft. Exum was taken with the 182nd pick obtained by the Vikings from Atlanta for the extra fifth-round selection they gained from Carolina earlier Saturday. James was taken with the 184th pick, their original selection.
The Chicago Bears selected Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey and traded up in the fourth round to pick Minnesota safety Brock Vereen on Saturday. Carey was chosen with the 17th pick of the fourth round, 117th overall, and Vereen was 131st.
The Minnesota Vikings have selected Stanford guard David Yankey in the fifth round of the NFL draft. Yankey was taken Saturday with the 145th pick. The 6-foot-4, 314-pound Yankey was a unanimous first team All-American left guard last season who played his junior year at left tackle.

They enter the final day Saturday with four more picks and a glaring need for depth in the defensive backfield. The Vikings have two choices in the fifth round and one each in the sixth and seventh rounds.
