Obama Declares Disaster In Flooded Minn. Counties

President Obama has declared a disaster in eight Minnesota counties damaged by flooding, unleashing federal funds to help repair millions in damages. June and July storms hit more than 50 of the state’s 87 counties, costing Minnesota an estimated $55 million for flood response and repairs.

State Patrol: 1 Killed In Freeborn County Head-On Crash

A 20-year-old South Dakota man was killed Tuesday in a head-on crash on Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities responded to the crash at about 6 p.m. On I-35 near mile marker 18 in Freeborn County.

Dozens Of Antique Cars Destroyed In Warehouse Fires

Dozens of antique cars have been destroyed in a large fire in Hollandale. According to the chief deputy of Freeborn County, fire broke out Monday afternoon in a warehouse in Hollandale, in the southeastern part of the state. Two warehouses were destroyed. One of them held 30 to 40 antique cars. There wasn’t enough water in the village system to battle the fire, so fire crews had to truck in water from nearby communities.

Dayton Declares State Of Emergency In 26 Counties

Gov. Mark Dayton has declared a state of emergency in 26 counties after storms and flash flooding last month. The executive order will allow the state to call for federal disaster assistance in the areas hit hardest by storms.
