Girls State Hockey Tournament
The Hill-Murray girls hockey team made the most of its trip to Xcel Energy Center last week, capping its season off with a Class AA state title. Sarah Bobrowski, one of the leaders of the Pioneers, has been a part of that program that has not just flourished, it finished on top.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already winter state tournament season in Minnesota high school sports. Just last week, state champions were crowned at the State Dance Competition at Target Center as well as the State Alpine and Nordic Ski Championships at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik, Minn.
February is a great time of year to be a high school sports fan in Minnesota. Every week, there’s a big match-up somewhere putting talented teams against each other with a lot on the line. This weekend, remaining girls hockey teams vie for a trip to state in various section championship games.
They call it “March Madness” for a reason. Even though things are technically getting started this week, March is truly the craziest month of the high school sports athletic year.
The Wild are traveling out west for game in California against the Kings and the Ducks. But there’s still business to take care of in St. Paul. It’s the start of the Girls State Hockey Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center!
