Carlie Wagner scored 36 points as top-ranked New Richland-H-E-G defeated Kenyon-Wanamingo 71-61 on Saturday in the Class 2A girls’ basketball championship game at Williams Arena. After the game, the senior guard shed tears of happiness because of her accomplishments, but she wasn’t focused on her state-tournament record 130 points through three games or her state-record 53 points in this year’s quarterfinal.

Health Dept. Trying To Deter Teens From Tanning With Video Challenge

A new survey reveals how many Minnesota teenagers are increasing their risk of getting skin cancer. A new study from the Department of Health found 34 percent of white girls in the 11th grade admitted to using tanning beds over the last year. More than half of them tanned indoors 10 or more times.

Kids across Minnesota can see what hockey is all about at Try Hockey For Free Day on Saturday. Seventy-three events are scheduled at rinks around the state. The events are aimed at welcoming boys and girls, ages 4 to 9, to come to a local rink and try youth hockey free of charge.

St. Paul Man Charged For Crash That Severely Injured 2 Girls

A 47-year-old St. Paul man was charged Friday in Washington County in connection with a Lake Elmo crash that severely injured two young women. Washington County Attorney Pete Orput said Jon Ross Wentz faces eight felonies of criminal vehicular operation causing great bodily harm involving negligence, blood alcohol and controlled substances in his system.

A 24-year-old Columbus, Minn., man faces multiple charges for allegedly slipping his iPhone under a kids’ changing stall door at a Gap store to record two girls changing.
