Minnesota’s Taylor Cammarata and Adam Wilcox have won Big Ten honors for their performances in the Gophers’ hockey sweep over Notre Dame. Cammarata was named Big Ten First Star of the Week for leading all NCAA players with 5 points over the weekend — despite not taking a shot on goal.
Minnesota is the preseason pick by WCHA women’s coaches to win the conference this season. The WCHA announced the preseason poll Tuesday. The Gophers, who were beaten by Clarkson in the NCAA championship game last season, are the reigning WCHA regular season and playoff champions.
Sophomore forward Gabe Guertler has been granted his release from the Minnesota Gophers hockey program. Coach Don Lucia announced Guertler’s release Thursday.
