Grand Day Parade
If you want a dose of history with your Halloween entertainment, get outside for the annual Anoka Halloween Parade. It’s the 94th year and it has the largest parade of floats and bands in the state. This year’s theme is pumpkins.
The city of Anoka lived up to its billing as the “Halloween Capital of the World” on Saturday. The Grand Day Parade began at 1 p.m. in downtown Anoka, with over 150 floats and dozens of marching bands. Organizers estimate that they get up to 40,000 people to turn out every year. The event, which began in 1920, is the largest and longest-running parade in Minnesota.
The St. Paul Winter Carnival Grand Day parade is Saturday afternoon and is just one of several activities that will take place as part of the carnival.
