Receiver Jarrett Boykin will miss the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night with a groin injury. Boykin hasn’t practiced this week. He also missed Sunday’s 38-17 win over the Chicago Bears. The absence of Boykin should mean more opportunities for rookies Davante Adams and Jeff Janis in the Packers’ three-receiver sets.
Adrian Peterson has tried to play through a sprained foot and a lingering groin injury, but he is doubtful to play in Sunday’s final regular-season game at home against the Detroit Lions. Peterson is third in the league in rushing with 1,266 yards. He practiced on a limited basis this week for the Minnesota Vikings (4-10-1), who on Sunday play the final game in the Metrodome’s history.
Alexander Steen scored twice, and Jaroslav Halak made 22 saves to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 3-0 win over the Minnesota Wild on Monday. Steen has 19 goals this season, one behind Washington’s Alex Ovechkin for the NHL lead. Vladimir Sobotka also scored for the Blues, who are 9-1-1 in their last 11 and 12-2-1 in the last 15. They have won six straight against Minnesota by a combined 20-7. The Wild were shut out for the first time this season and lost only their second game in the last eight. Minnesota (15-6-4) is still off to its best start with 34 points in its first 25 games.
