1 Year Since 2 Students Killed In Landslide

Thursday marks one year since a landslide in St. Paul’s Lilydale Park took the lives of two young students. Ten-year-old Mohamed Fofana and 9-year-old Haysem Sani were killed last May when a cliff fell on them during a class field trip.

Investigators: Fatal Rockslide Was Not Predictable

Investigators say a rockslide that killed two children in a St. Paul park last spring was the result of natural causes, and the city could not have predicted it. Mayor Chris Coleman hired two independent investigators to examine the cause of the May incident at Lilydale Regional Park.

Community Mourns As 2 Fourth Graders Are Laid To Rest

Gov. Mark Dayton addressed the students, faculty, staff and community members at a St. Louis Park elementary school on Friday morning after two students there died while on a field trip in Lilydale. Mohamed Fofana and Haysem Sani were killed on Wednesday.

St. Paul Taps Engineering Firm In Landslide Probe

The city of St. Paul says it’s hired a civil engineering firm to examine the site of a gravel slide this week that killed two children. The children were fourth-graders from a suburban elementary school who were exploring a popular fossil area when the gravel slide hit them Wednesday.

2 Victims Identified In St. Paul Gravel Slide

The body of the final missing child from Wednesday’s gravel slide accident has been recovered, authorities confirmed late Thursday morning. The victim was identified as 10-year-old Mohamed Fofana. The tragedy happened Wednesday afternoon at Lilydale Park.

Memorial Growing For 2 Students Lost In Lilydale Landslide

Counselors were on hand at Peter Hobart Elementary School on Thursday for returning students, parents, and staff. And there’s a growing memorial that’s been set up outside the school as the community honors the two children who died in the Lilydale Park land slide — Mohamed Fofana, Haysem Sani — and also the two students injured in the accident.
