Firefighters Who Rescued Kids From Submerged Car Honored

The rescuers who pulled five children from a car that crashed into a St. Louis Park retention pond were honored for their bravery Thursday night. The men braved frigid conditions on Nov. 21, 2013, when a car swerved off the road and into a pond. They say they are not heroes. “We were still doing our job [that we were] trained to do,” said Cpt. Paul Rosholt of the St. Louis Park Fire Department.

Man Arrested In Mpls. Bar Shooting

The man arrested and accused in the shooting that left two injured at a Minneapolis bar earlier this week was marking his 23rd birthday on the day he allegedly committed the assault. Police say that they have taken Devon Strouss into custody in connection with the Wednesday shooting at the 19 Bar on 14th Street.

2 Men, 2 Women Charged In Fridley Stabbing, Attempted Robbery

Anoka County prosecutors say one of the victims in a brutal assault over the weekend was able to call the police after he had been stabbed eight times. Anthony McCollum and Yani Singh are still in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center after police say they were stabbed inside of a car early Saturday morning.

Police: Man Critically Injured In Uptown Hit-&-Run

Minneapolis police say a 39-year-old man was critically injured in an Uptown hit-and-run early Friday morning. According to police spokesman John Elder, at around 2 a.m., a man was on foot in the middle of the street near Lyndale Avenue and 26th Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Lyndale. The victim was thrown into the air and landed “some distance” from where he was struck, Elder said.
