The Hennepin County sheriff’s office has completed its investigation into a man’s fatal shooting by a Brooklyn Center police officer last month. The sheriff’s office submitted the information Friday to the Hennepin County Attorney’s office for review. That’s standard procedure after an investigation into an officer-involved shooting. The officer shot and killed the man during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center on Aug. 23.

Sending or reading a text message distracts most teenage drivers for 4.6 seconds. At 55 mph, it’s like driving the entire length of a football field while blind. Lt. Authorities are on the scene of an apparent murder early Thursday morning in Brooklyn Center. Police responded to an incident at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday at the Super 8 Hotel in Brooklyn Center.
Police are looking into the death of a man in Brooklyn Park after he was found in a hot tub. Officers were called to the home in the 7700 block of Arlington Avenue North around 7 a.m. Sunday. The 57-year-old man who lived there was pronounced dead.
A new and expensive underwater tool for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office was introduced on Thursday — it’s called a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV). “It’s roughly the size of a remote control car,” Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said. “It’s an expensive piece of equipment. It cost us around $150,000-plus.”
Authorities are investigating after a female inmate at the Hennepin County Jail died of an apparent seizure Wednesday night. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said the inmate suffered the seizure at about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.
Four people were involved in a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle Sunday night west of the Twin Cities, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities responded to the crash at about 8:02 p.m. Sunday on westbound Highway 55 at Pinto Drive in Plymouth.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, 31-year-old Devon McFerrin was driving when he was pulled over by Chicago Police. Police say McFerrin, a prolific drug dealer, sold heroin to a man who later died from an overdosed in a Hopkins apartment in 2012.
Authorities say a 2-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a car Thursday evening in Corcoran.
Law enforcement agencies from across the Twin Cities are working together on a warrant sweep for domestic violence offenders in Hennepin County. More than 50 officers representing 14 different counties began the sweep around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Two collided on Wayzata Bay on Lake Minnetonka Sunday morning, resulting in a two-year-old boy being knocked overboard. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, two boats – both approximately 22-feet-long – struck each other while traveling the in the same direction 200 feet from shore before 10 a.m. One boat was described as a runabout, and the other a deck boat. The runabout had four passengers, including the boy who was thrown in to the lake on impact. He was wearing a life jacket, and was pulled from the water by his father.
Police say a girl was taken to a hospital Tuesday evening after being pulled from a pool in Brooklyn Center.
A group of people looking for a friend in North Minneapolis Wednesday found a man’s body in a pond, police say. The group called police just before 12:30 p.m., the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said. The group noticed the body in a pond in the 300 block of Van White Memorial Boulevard near Heritage Commons, a senior public housing and assisted living facility.
Authorities have identified the body of a woman that was found earlier this week in the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Friday authorities recovered the body of 16-year-old Erika Renee Borgstrom of Roberts, Wis.
