Info On Minn. Officer-Involved Shooting Submitted

The Hennepin County sheriff’s office has completed its investigation into a man’s fatal shooting by a Brooklyn Center police officer last month. The sheriff’s office submitted the information Friday to the Hennepin County Attorney’s office for review. That’s standard procedure after an investigation into an officer-involved shooting. The officer shot and killed the man during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center on Aug. 23.

Henn. Co. Cracks Down On Teens Who Text & Drive

Driving can be dangerous for any new teen driver, but research shows that adding texting to the mix makes matters much worse. Sending or reading a text message distracts most teenage drivers for 4.6 seconds. At 55 mph, it’s like driving the entire length of a football field while blind. Lt. Jeff Schlumpberger with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office says it’s illegal to text and drive in Minnesota.

Police: 57-Year-Old Man Found Dead In Brooklyn Park Hot Tub

Police are looking into the death of a man in Brooklyn Park after he was found in a hot tub. Officers were called to the home in the 7700 block of Arlington Avenue North around 7 a.m. Sunday. The 57-year-old man who lived there was pronounced dead.

Hennepin County Has New $150K Tool For Watery Investigations

A new and expensive underwater tool for the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office was introduced on Thursday — it’s called a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV). “It’s roughly the size of a remote control car,” Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said. “It’s an expensive piece of equipment. It cost us around $150,000-plus.”

Authorities are investigating after a female inmate at the Hennepin County Jail died of an apparent seizure Wednesday night. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said the inmate suffered the seizure at about 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.

State Patrol: Serious Injuries In Motorcycle Crash On Highway 55

Four people were involved in a serious injury crash involving a motorcycle Sunday night west of the Twin Cities, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities responded to the crash at about 8:02 p.m. Sunday on westbound Highway 55 at Pinto Drive in Plymouth.

One Of Henn. Co.’s Most Wanted Captured

One of Hennepin County’s top ten most wanted criminals has been arrested in Chicago. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, 31-year-old Devon McFerrin was driving when he was pulled over by Chicago Police. Police say McFerrin, a prolific drug dealer, sold heroin to a man who later died from an overdosed in a Hopkins apartment in 2012.

Hennepin County Conducts Warrant Sweeps Across Metro

Law enforcement agencies from across the Twin Cities are working together on a warrant sweep for domestic violence offenders in Hennepin County. More than 50 officers representing 14 different counties began the sweep around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Wayzata Bay Boat Collision Tosses 2-Year-Old Boy In Lake

Two collided on Wayzata Bay on Lake Minnetonka Sunday morning, resulting in a two-year-old boy being knocked overboard. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, two boats – both approximately 22-feet-long – struck each other while traveling the in the same direction 200 feet from shore before 10 a.m. One boat was described as a runabout, and the other a deck boat. The runabout had four passengers, including the boy who was thrown in to the lake on impact. He was wearing a life jacket, and was pulled from the water by his father.

Police: Body Found In North Minneapolis Pond

A group of people looking for a friend in North Minneapolis Wednesday found a man’s body in a pond, police say. The group called police just before 12:30 p.m., the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said. The group noticed the body in a pond in the 300 block of Van White Memorial Boulevard near Heritage Commons, a senior public housing and assisted living facility.

Authorities have identified the body of a woman that was found earlier this week in the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Friday authorities recovered the body of 16-year-old Erika Renee Borgstrom of Roberts, Wis.

Bartender Charged After Intoxicated Man, 20, Drowned

A Maple Grove bartender faces charges, authorities say, after she allegedly served a 20-year-old man liquor before he left a bar intoxicated, broke through the ice of a nearby pond and drowned last month.
