The hit A & E reality TV show “The First 48″ returns to Minneapolis this week to follow around some of the city’s homicide investigators. Minneapolis Police say they are excited to welcome back the show, which has featured the city’s investigators before in several episodes. It has been a few years since their last appearance.
Authorities say an 18-year-old Edina man was shot and killed in north Minneapolis late Friday night. It was one of two deadly shootings over the weekend.
A Wisconsin man has pleaded no contest to a homicide charge after being found competent to stand trial on charges of fatally shooting and dismembering a Minnesota man. Twenty-eight-year-old Kou Thao of Wausau pleaded no contest Wednesday to second-degree intentional homicide in the death of 58-year-old Tong Pao Hang, of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Police say one person is dead following a shooting near the intersection of 23rd and Fremond Avenue North in Minneapolis. Police said that one other person was also injured. The shooting happened at about 3:40 p.m.
After a month on the run, suspected killer Ty Hoffman appeared in court on second-degree murder charges Friday afternoon, and bail was set at $2 million. Hoffman was formally charged Thursday with second-degree intentional murder. On Friday afternoon, he appeared in court wearing a bulletproof vest and no handcuffs.
