Police: 1 In Custody After Minneapolis Homicide

One man is in custody after a homeowner was shot and killed in north Minneapolis late Friday morning, according to police. Minneapolis Police were called to the 3700 block of Aldrich Avenue North at about 11:46 a.m. on a report that a man had gone into a residence and told the homeowner to call police.

Man Charged In 1st Mpls. Homicide Of 2014

Charges have been filed against a 24-year-old Richfield man police say was responsible for the first homicide in the city of Minneapolis this year. Police responded to a shooting at about 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 23 on the 4400 block of 1st Avenue South.

Police Investigating Murder At St. Peter Hospital

Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead at Minnesota State Security Hospital in St. Peter in what they said was an act of violence. St. Peter Police responded to the hospital at about 7:53 p.m. Wednesday.

Man Arrested In Connection To N. Minn. Homicide

Authorities in northern Minnesota have a suspect in custody after a 55-year-old man was murdered on Monday. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office, the Babbitt Police Department responded to a medical emergency call just after 11 a.m. and found Paul John Bulen lying injured on a road. Bulen was brought to an Ely hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police arrested 24-year-old Shawn Russel Doherty, who is currently being held in the St. Louis County Jail

St. Paul Police said three people have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting near a gas station Friday night. Authorities responded to the BP gas station at the intersection of Maryland and White Bear Avenues just after 6:30 p.m.

Man Arrested In MN Pleads Not Guilty In Wife’s ’97 Death

A former University of Iowa researcher has pleaded not guilty to killing his wife in 1997. John Richard Bloomfield entered the plea in writing Thursday. The filing waived his right to an in-person arraignment hearing, which had been scheduled for Friday.

Montevideo Man’s Death Ruled As Homicide

The death of a 64-year-old Montevideo man has officially been ruled a homicide by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner on Saturday. Thomas Dickson was found dead Monday evening in his apartment on the 100 block of west Canyon Avenue. His death was initially described by police as “suspicious.” Police say the public is not at risk. Anyone with information is asked to contact Montevideo Police at 320-269-8808.

Police & Crime Stoppers Team Up To Solve Murder Of N. Mpls. Woman

Police are teaming up with Crime Stoppers to solve a homicide that happened in the summer of 2012. Lois Swenson was found murdered in her north Minneapolis home on June 13, 2012. Lt Richard Zimmerman believes Swenson had helped the suspect in the past. He said there is a man who knows the suspect, and they hope he comes forward.

A small community in Bayfield County is mourning the deaths of an elderly couple, killed in an attack at their home. Sheriff’s officials identify the couple as 79-year-old Jim Crain and 76-year-old Eunice Crain, of Iron River.

No Decision On Extradition In Iowa Slaying Arrest

An attorney for a man charged in the 1997 slaying of his wife in Iowa City says he hasn’t decided whether to challenge his extradition from Minnesota. John Bloomfield is expected to appear in court Thursday in St. Paul. The 73-year-old has been jailed since his arrest last week at his St. Paul home.

Prosecutors have charged a 35-year-old man with killing two people in north Fargo over the weekend. David Stevens is charged with two counts of murder in the stabbing deaths of 23-year-old Samantha Wickenheiser, of Fargo, and 30-year-old Ward Berg, of neighboring Moorhead, Minn.
