A convicted murderer was taken into custody Tuesday evening after a standoff at a Fridley apartment building, Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said. According to Stanek, Eugene Ryan Boos, 42, was taken into custody after a standoff that lasted over five hours.
A 31-year-old Burnsville man was sentenced to 60 months in prison in Dakota County Court Friday for a September incident where he took two people hostage inside a gas station.
One man is behind bars after a standoff with police that forced a busy highway to close early Saturday evening. According to Burnsville Police, a man with a sawed-off shotgun entered the Holiday Gas Station on Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville at 6:15 p.m. The man fired once in to the ceiling, and took two employees hostage. Police arrived soon after, and were able to talk the man down to the point of surrender. The gunman made no demands during the standoff.
