Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome
Construction crews took a big step Sunday towards demolishing the Metrodome. Anyone in the downtown area may have heard a loud blast as explosives were used to take down a concrete ring beam inside the Dome.

Since opening in 1982, more than 73 million people have visited the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome — home of the Minnesota Vikings. The Dome, as it’s lovingly referred to by fans, has a 10-acre Teflon-coated fiberglass roof, which is supported by 20 electric fans boosting 90 horsepower each.
