Crystal Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person responsible for throwing a 40-pound brick through the window of a squad car — which had a K-9 officer inside. Police say the incident happened early Saturday morning in the police department parking lot.
A police dog who was responsible for finding more than 20 pounds of narcotics and assisting in the arrests of numerous suspects has died. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office announced that Portos, a German Shepherd, died on Tuesday afternoon.
Three suspects are in police custody, and one is recovering from injuries sustained from a K-9 officer, after a robbery spree in Anoka County Thursday night. According to Blaine Police, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies responded to three separate reports of armed robberies in the area between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. The first report was on the 1000 block of County Road 10 in Spring Lake Park, the second was near Able Street Northeast and 87th Lane Northeast in Blaine and the third was on the 1100 block of 95th Avenue Northeast, also in Blaine. Descriptions from witnesses about the suspects, their vehicle and weapon (a shotgun or rifle) tied all three crimes together.
A K-9 Officer was sent to the hospital after being injured in an incident early Tuesday evening, according to the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office.
