Lumber Manufacturer Cited In Worker’s Death

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited a lumber and shingle manufacturer for safety violations that resulted in the death of a worker at its plant in Superior.

Goin’ To The Lake: Frank & Chris Visit Grand Rapids

Frank Vascellaro and Chris Shaffer are heading to lakes all over Minnesota and western Wis. for an entire week! On Day 1, the boys are at Sugar Lake Lodge on Sugar Lake in Grand Rapids – which is just three and a half hours north of the Twin Cities. Sugar Lake is called a “marl” lake, which means it has a high concentration of calcium carbonates which settle at the bottom, giving the lake a deep turquoise appearance. On a clear day you can see more than 20 feet below the surface.

Man Killed In Superior Industrial Accident

Police say a 30-year-old man has been killed at a wood shingle manufacturer in Superior. First responders were called to White Cedar Shingles and Lumber Company at about 7 p.m. Tuesday in a building south of the coal piles off St. Louis Bay. They found David Clink unresponsive with his arm or clothing caught in a conveyor belt system.
