Doctors Can Begin To Sign Qualified Patients Up For Medical Marijuana

Minnesota officials will be able to start signing up qualified patients for medical marijuana Monday. It’s the first day doctors are able to certify and register patients with conditions like cancer and epilepsy for the program. About 5,000 people are expected to be eligible.

Parents Face Long Drives For Medical Marijuana

Some Minnesota parents are concerned about long drives to buy medical marijuana for their ailing children. The state’s two medical cannabis manufacturers tentatively plan to open dispensaries in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Eagan, Maple Grove, St. Cloud, Hibbing, Rochester and Moorhead. Those locations put hundreds of miles between some greater Minnesota residents and medication for themselves or their kids.

Dayton Says He Will Sign House Medical Pot Bill

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has sent a letter to House and Senate sponsors of their respective medical-marijuana bills. Dayton said he would sign the bill into law if legislators adopted the House version as is. Dayton sent the letter to Minneapolis Democratic Sen. Scott Dibble and Hibbing Democratic Rep. Carly Melin soon after the House passed a medical-marijuana proposal on Friday.
