Josh Freeman’s Concussion Keeps Him Out Of Practice, Ponder Re-Enters Minnesota’s Starting Lineup

The Minnesota Vikings will likely be without Josh Freeman for Sunday’s contest against the Green Bay Packers at Mall of America Field. That means third-year quarterback Christian Ponder will take the reigns of the first unit. The Vikings listed four players as non-participants, four as limited participants and four as full participants for Thursday’s practice.

With Matt Kalil under contract through 2015 and Phil Loadholt locked up a year longer than that, the Minnesota Vikings boast a sturdy and talented pair of offensive tackles they can include in the core of their roster for many more seasons. The similarities of the recent high draft picks stop there, though. Kalil, the first-rounder in 2012, and Loadholt, a second-round selection in 2009, are about as opposite as players can be at the same position.

Minnesota Vikings Claim J’Marcus Webb, Finalize Practice Squad

The Minnesota Vikings claimed former Chicago Bears offensive tackle J’Marcus Webb and released Troy Kropog Sunday. Head coach Leslie Frazier said that he would talk about injuries on Wednesday, including the right knee of Kevin Williams. The Vikings filled their practice squad roster with eight players.

Minnesota Vikings Give Brian Robison A Chance To Play On Sunday

The Minnesota Vikings did not have Brian Robison in practice Wednesday or Thursday, but the starting defensive end returned as a limited participant Friday. He did some work with the defense’s first unit and could play Sunday. His replacement, Everson Griffen, is also banged up, but is not in danger of missing the game.

Minnesota Vikings Fend Off Late Surge From The St. Louis Rams, Inch Towards Wild Card

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the St. Louis Rams Sunday and got a little help to move into the sixth and final spot in the playoffs. It still has two games remaining to reach the postseason, but at least now it controls its own destiny.
