PBS anchor Jim Lehrer told public broadcasters Tuesday that they must continue to defend their federal funding and raise more money to meet an increasing need for serious journalism as commercial newspapers and broadcasters see declines.
News organizations and media attorneys say they hope a judicial order allowing cameras in civil cases will help them prove that cameras and other electronic recording devices wouldn’t be out of place in criminal trials.
Cameras will be allowed to cover civil cases in Minnesota courtrooms under a new order from the state Supreme Court.
