Wis. 1-Year-Old Attacked By Dog

A 1-year-old girl is recovering from severe facial injuries she suffered in a dog attack in Racine. Police say the girl was visiting her grandparents Tuesday evening when she was suddenly attacked by their dog. The girl was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital then transported by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in suburban Milwaukee.

Complaint: Ex-Cop Hid Women’s Bodies In Vehicle

A former police officer suspected in the deaths of two women whose bodies were stuffed into suitcases and discarded on a rural Wisconsin highway met his victims online, in one case possibly through a bondage website, according to police and a criminal complaint. Steven Zelich, a 52-year-old security officer, was charged Thursday with two counts of hiding a corpse.

Police Arrest Man In Connection With Grisly Find

Wisconsin police have arrested a 52-year-old man almost three weeks after human remains were found in suitcases, and investigators identified one victim as a missing Minnesota woman. Town of Geneva police Chief Steven Hurley said in a statement the man was arrested Wednesday. The news release didn’t elaborate on the man’s suspected role.

A 12-year-old girl accused of stabbing a friend in a quest to please a spooky fictional character will have a mental evaluation, while an attorney for a second girl also charged in the crime said Wednesday that he could raise the issue of competency later.

Midwest Could See Strong Windstorms From Derecho

The National Weather Service was tracking a so-called derecho weather pattern in the Midwest on Tuesday that could spawn severe windstorms in major metropolitan areas with gusts as strong as 100 mph. Derecho windstorms occur once every year or two across the central and northeastern U.S. in a band from Texas to New England. They pack hazardous winds of at least 75 mph or more and maintain their intensity for hours as they sweep across vast distances.
