The Minnesota Vikings listed nine players on the injury report, eight injured players and one non-injury related absence. Sharrif Floyd and Brandon Watts did not participate because of injuries and Adrian Peterson sat out for an undisclosed reason. Mike Harris, Charlie Johnson, Zach Line, Michael Mauti and Xavier Rhodes were limited in practice. Jabari Price was a full participant.
The Minnesota Vikings have their lineup pretty much set for Sunday’s season opener against the St. Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome. Head coach Mike Zimmer had few injuries to talk about after Thursday’s practice.
LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune has become the first black reporter to head the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. The 48-year-old Neal, who has covered baseball for the paper since 1998, was elected Saturday at the BBWAA’s World Series meeting to succeed Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Slusser was the first woman to head the organization, which was founded in 1908. Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle was elected vice president, putting him in line to become president next October.
