Health Officials Say 3 E. Coli Cases Linked To Lake Minnetonka

State health officials said Friday at least three people have been diagnosed with E. coli from swimming near Big Island on Lake Minnetonka over the Fourth of July holiday. Health officials said the illnesses happened with young adults that were all within the seven-county Twin Cities metro.

UnitedHealth 2Q Profit Up As Enrollment Improves

UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s second-quarter net income rose almost 8 percent, buoyed by steady enrollment growth. The nation’s largest health insurer’s earnings topped Wall Street estimates. It also raised the low end of its full-year earnings forecast Thursday.

Minn. Officials Plan For Electronic Voting Rosters

A pilot project in the works for this fall replaces those reams of voter sign-in sheets at polling places with electronic rosters. The Legislature approved the e-roster project in a limited number of precincts. The results will determine if it gets expanded more broadly in future elections.

UnitedHealth Board OKs Quarterly Dividend Raise

UnitedHealth Group is raising its quarterly dividend by another 32 percent, to 28 cents per share. The new payout represents an increase of nearly 7 cents from the insurer’s current dividend of 21.25 cents. The largest U.S. health insurer says the dividend will be paid on June 21 to all shareholders of record as of the close of business June 14.
