Son, On Killing Dad: ‘Relieved Not To Have To Deal With Him Anymore’

The 18-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his father in their rural Montgomery home told police he was “somewhat relieved he would not have to deal with him anymore.” Police said 48-year-old Richard Joseph Nelson was shot at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday at his home on the 10600 block of Le Sueur Avenue.

Investigators say they have taken a teenager into custody after a man was found shot in the head in Montgomery, Minn. The incident happened at about 11 p.m. on Monday on the 10600 block of Le Sueur Avenue.

Girl Killed In Le Sueur Co. Crash Remembered

Starting Monday morning, the classrooms at Most Holy Redeemer School in Montgomery will be filled with students. But one desk will be empty. Eleven-year-old Mary Urtuzuastegui was just minutes from home Friday night on a drive back from a homecoming game at Tri-City United High School with her stepdad, when their SUV crossed the center line and crashed into an oncoming car. Both of them were killed. Principal Mindy Reeder says Mary was a joy to have at school.

Patrol: Head-On Crash In S. MN Kills 4, Including 11-Year-Old

A Friday night head-on collision just outside of Montgomery, Minn., killed four people, including an 11-year-old, according to the state patrol. Montgomery is 50 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. Authorities said Jeffery Miller, 22, of Le Center, was driving east on County Road 26/Lexington Road around 10 p.m. Friday when his car collided head on with a westbound traveling vehicle.
