Man Gets Life For Killing Mom, Nephew With Samurai Sword

A man convicted of killing his mother and nephew with a samurai sword will spend the rest of his life in prison. Beatrice Wilson, 57, and Peter Wilson, 14, were found stabbed to death in their Minneapolis home in October 2012.

Public Memorial Service Thursday For Kelly Phillips

There will be a public memorial and candlelight service Thursday for the man who police say was killed by his ex at an Arden Hills gas station. Kelly Phillips was shot multiple times at a gas station in Arden Hills on Aug. 11 and died from injuries in the incident.

Funeral Set For 2 Sisters Slain In Wisconsin

A funeral is planned this week in Minnesota for two sisters who were fatally shot in Wisconsin. An obituary notice says a celebration of life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. for 39-year-old Ashlee Steele and 38-year-old Kacee Tollefsbol.

Murder Charges Likely This Week Against Wis. Deputy

A Fitchburg police lieutenant says charges are likely early this week against a recently retired Dane County sheriff’s deputy accused of fatally shooting his wife and sister-in-law. Lt. Todd Stetzer says Andy Steele is being treated at a hospital for injuries consistent with a suicide attempt.

Man Dies 6 Years After Shooting In Minneapolis

Authorities said a man who was shot more than six years ago in Minneapolis and had been at an assisted living center died Wednesday. Authorities said the man was shot on Nov. 9, 2007, in an incident on the 3900 block of Lyndale Avenue North in Minneapolis.

Friends of Kelly Phillips helped raise the money to increase the reward to find Ty Hoffman, the man accused in Phillips’ shooting death. Two of those friends, Jason Tober and Erick Lucken, joined Esme Murphy on WCCO Sunday Morning to talk about the reward and search for Hoffman.

Charges: Man Pushed Another Into Moving Car’s Path

A 41-year-old man faces second-degree murder charges after getting into a fight on Wednesday. According to the criminal complaint filed by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, 47-year-old Robert Hilgren got into a fight with Michael Merten after the latter apparently tried to fight Hilgren’s son at a party on Rice Street in Little Canada.

Ramsey County authorities say the man suspected of shooting and killing his former lover early last week is likely relying on social media to find shelter while on the run from authorities. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said that Lyle “Ty” Hoffman could be evading capture by using Craigslist and gay dating applications.

Minnesota Authorities Charge 2 Men In Body Burning

Hennepin County authorities have charged two men in the shooting death of a Brooklyn Center man whose burning body set a dumpster on fire. The county attorney’s office said Wednesday that 24-year-old Manuel Guzman of Minneapolis and 22-year-old Guillermo Ayala-Enriquez of Brooklyn Center were charged with second-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Rufino Clara-Rendon.

Two Charged With Murder In Dumpster Fire Case

Two men face second-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting a 31-year-old Brooklyn Center man earlier this month, stuffing his body into a mattress and lighting it on fire near a dumpster on the city’s south side.

A man accused of killing two women and hiding their bodies in cars found at Twin Cities area impound lots has pleaded guilty to one of the crimes. Twenty-five-year-old Alberto Palmer entered the plea Wednesday in Anoka County the death of Brittany Clardy.

Friends Collect $10K In Reward Fund To Find Arden Hills Suspect

Friends of the man gunned down at a Twin Cities gas station have now created a reward fund in hopes of finding the shooter, and have already collected $10,000. Kelly Phillips was shot and killed at a Holiday gas station in Arden Hills last week. Police believe Phillips’ ex-boyfriend Lyle “Ty” Hoffman is responsible for his death.

Wife Of Man Who Killed New Brighton Neighbor Found Not Guilty

A judge found the wife of a man accused of killing his neighbor in New Brighton over a deer-feeding feud not guilty of murder charges Tuesday morning in connection with the April incident. Paula Zumberge, 50, had been charged back in May with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree attempted murder.

Mpls. Couple Charged With Murder In Infant Daughter’s Death

Thirty-nine-year-old Cardie Jackson and 40-year-old Shonwta Jackson were charged with second-degree murder Tuesday in Hennepin County Court in the death of their 6-week-old daughter. Hennepin County prosecutor Amy Sweasy says the baby suffocated in a laundry basket filled with blankets and a pillow, where she regularly slept.
