While cars had trouble starting Monday, dozens of planes didn’t get off the ground at all. Some airlines had to cancel flights after jet fuel actually froze at airports across the Midwest. There were 50 flights cancelled and more than two dozen delays at MSP Monday. But almost none of them had to do with the local weather, according to airport spokesman Patrick Hogan.
An Eagan man has been charged with violating the Illinois Controlled Substance Act by bringing almost 90 pounds of the stimulant plant khat into the United States from the United Kingdom. The Chicago Tribune reports that customs agents at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport stopped 20-year-old Dominic Running with more than $12,000 worth of khat, a plant that’s chewed like tobacco and contains a stimulant similar to amphetamine.
Two Delta Airlines planes, one headed for Minneapolis, collided while on the ground at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, according to Delta Spokesperson Chris Kelly.
