U Of M Area On Alert After Recent Gunpoint Robberies

A string of armed robberies near the University of Minnesota has police urging students to pay close attention to their surroundings, especially in the nearby neighborhoods of Dinkytown and Marcy Holmes.
U of M police issued a crime alert on Monday, describing two robberies that took place close to campus over the weekend. Investigators said they appear to be similar to four other robberies that happened in the past month — those were also close to the U. Some of the victims are students and some aren’t.

Police Investigating Robbery At Plymouth McDonald’s

Police in Plymouth are looking for three masked individuals who pulled off an early morning robbery at McDonald’s. Authorities said the incident happened early Wednesday morning at the McDonald’s restaurant on the 2700 block of Annapolis Circle North, which is near Interstate 494 and Highway 55 in Plymouth.

2 Accused Of Stealing Lotto Tickets Twice

Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing lottery tickets in Montrose on at least two separate occasions last month. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to Red’s Café on both August 17 and August 22 on calls of reported burglaries.

Man Hurt In Robbery, Assault Last Month Dies

A Minneapolis man who was robbed and assaulted in Downtown Minneapolis last month has died of his injuries. Forty-four-year-old Adrian Hernandez was hurt almost two weeks ago at 10th Street and Hennepin Avenue.

Police Investigating 4 Recent Group Muggings In Downtown Mpls.

Police say a group of three to five black males have been targeting those walking alone – day or night – in downtown Minneapolis, and robbing them of their wallets, purses and or cell phones. Minneapolis police said four muggings have taken place between Aug. 12 and Aug. 19. The suspects are in their late teens, or early 20s. They target lone individuals and some victims have been pushed or punched.

FBI Wants Public’s Help IDing St. Cloud Robbery Suspect

The FBI is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect from a Friday robbery of the American National Bank. According to authorities, an elderly man displayed a handgun around 5 p.m. at the bank on the 3200 block of Division Street West, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount.

7 Car Break-Ins Overnight In St. Francis

St. Francis police are investigating a rash of car break-ins — done all in one night. Seven cars were broken into on Yucca Street NW and the person responsible destroyed car dashes, getting away with stereos, speakers, GPS units and other expensive electronics.

St. Paul Teen Charged In Beating That Resulted In Brain Damage

A 19-year-old St. Paul man was charged Friday in connection with the brutal beating and robbery of a young man on the city’s east side, according to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. Issac Maiden was charged with two counts of crime for the benefit of a gang – one on first-degree assault, and one on first-degree aggravated robbery with bodily harm.

Burnsville Police have released surveillance photos in hopes that they might help identify a man suspected of robbing a Best Buy Mobile store on Monday. Police say the man robbed the store at 10 a.m. by placing a number of iPhones and Samsung phones/tablets into a teal-colored laundry mesh bag before leaving.

A high-speed chase involving an armed robbery suspect and police resulted in a crash which seriously injured a father and his infant son in Monticello Monday night. Investigators believe the man who caused the crash had also been drinking.

Monticello Father, 1-Year-Old Son In Critical Condition After Crash With Robbery Suspect

A high speed chase involving am armed robbery suspect and police results in a crash which seriously injures a father and his infant son in Wright County Monday night. According to Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Paul VanVoohris, the chase began after a robbery at Tootsies Tavern in Big Lake at approximately 5:40 p.m. The suspect, 47-year-old Kevin Greene, fled the tavern in an 1999 Chevy Suburban and crashed into a 2002 Honda Accord with two passengers shortly afterwards in Monticello at Riverview Drive and East Broadway Street.

Police in St. Paul are trying to find the man who forced grocery shoppers to drive him to cash machines. The victims were forced into their vehicles at gunpoint at the Kowalski’s Market on Grand Avenue, with the most recent robbery on Saturday night. Kowalski’s shopper Carl Dehnert says these crimes or unsettling, considering that it’s located in one of those neighborhoods where everyone knows your name.

Police Release Sketch Of Bunker Hills Park Assault Suspect

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of the suspect who reportedly assaulted and robbed a 17-year-old girl in Bunker Hills Park earlier this week. The incident happened at around 5:12 p.m. Tuesday. The victim told police she was walking with another person that day when they separated and left in different directions.

Third Man Convicted In 2011 Minneapolis Murder

The third suspect in a 2011 Minneapolis robbery that turned deadly was convicted of murder on Wednesday by a Hennepin County jury. Nisius McAllister, who had been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with an August 2011 shooting in the Little Earth community of Minneapolis, was convicted on both counts.

Hastings Man Charged With Robbery At Knife-Point

The Hastings man arrested for allegedly robbing a gas station at knife-point before fleeing on a “light colored kids bike” was charged with felony first-degree aggravated robbery. According to the charges, Joseph Robert Olson, 27, robbed the gas station on Vermillion Street at 5:08 a.m. on May 22 while wielding a 4-inch knife. Surveillance video helped police identify Olson.

Man Charged With Multiple Robberies, Killing 3 Dogs

A 30-year-old man has been charged with breaking into multiple homes in Northfield, burgling the residences and killing three dogs. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the home on the 700 block of College Street just after noon on May 8.
